Does the Internet tend to consume far more of your time than it should? Do you bounce in and out of email or social media when instead you should be writing that project report that’s due?
For years, my answer to both of these questions was “yes”. It wasn’t until I finally hired an assistant a few years ago to help me, that I could finally answer “no” to both questions.
Now you might be thinking that the assistant was a person, but it wasn’t. It was a wonderful productivity software app called Freedom (not affiliate link).
I’m still using Freedom with great success today. In fact, it might be the best $10 I ever invested to boost my productivity when on the computer.
FREEDOM Is Simple
To use it, I go to my dock and click on the Freedom icon (clock). Then I enter the number of minutes I want to be locked out of using the Internet (up to 8 hours), and I click Ok.
Next I choose “Normal Mode” in the pop-up box. Finally, when prompted I enter my computer password since Freedom needs administrator access to block my connection to the Internet (No worries, it’s safe).
FREEDOM Blocks You From the Internet
Remember when you were a kid and your mom would take the TV remote away. It forced you to find something else to do that was more productive (at least in her eyes).
Freedom does the same thing by eliminating the endless distractions that the Internet offers.
If by chance you need to access the Internet before your “lock out” period is up, you can always reboot your computer. Doing so will cancel the Freedom session and give you Internet access again.
See How Easy FREEDOM Is To Use
To help you see how easy Freedom is to use, and to show you where you can sign up for a free trial, I put together the short video below. Check it out if you need help staying focused while on your computer.
So are you ready to boost your digital-based productivity by 2X, or maybe 3X?
Trust me, you won’t be disappointed with the way the Freedom app will change how you work on your digital device (Mac, Windows or Android).
Beyond the productivity increase, I bet you’ll also enjoy the sense of calm that Freedom gives you simply by knowing you can’t get on the Internet.
Question: How do you stay focused on the task at hand when working on your computer? You can leave a comment by clicking here.
